Combs for lice (lice combs) are specialized combs with very fine, closely spaced teeth, designed to physically remove head lice and their eggs (nits) from the hair. This is the main non-chemical method recommended by health authorities such as the RIVM in the Netherlands.
Description and features
Design: Lice combs have extra-fine teeth (usually 0.3 to 0.4 mm apart) that are often made of durable materials such as stainless steel. The teeth are usually long and may have micro-grooves or a rectangular/diamond shape in cross-section to better capture and pull out both adult lice and the small, sticky nits attached to the hair shaft.
Function: The main purpose is mechanical removal. They are used in a systematic combing method (often called the “wet combing method”) to remove an infestation
